7 – 9 pm: Cultural Show with Tibetan artists

Everything you always wanted to know about Tibetan culture but were afraid to ask…

Experience a unique ‘Tibetanised’ Maria (hip Berlin venue) evening on the occasion of the European demonstration for Tibet on 12th March in Berlin. The best Tibetan artists-in-exile will be performing from 7pm onwards. The Berlin-Tibetan Lobsang Dargye, accompanied by his band No-Mad, will deliver authentic sounds from his region of eastern Tibet, Amdo. Loten Namling and Dechen Shak-Dagsay, two Swiss-Tibetans, will respectively bring rousing freedom anthems and soothing mantras for world peace closer to us. The Tibetan nun Ani Choying Dolma from Nepal will perform an a capella one-nun-mantra-extravaganza! And as if that weren’t enough – a women’s group (made up of EIGHT women!!) will enthral with their songs and dances! They will receive token male support from Tsering Topden who is travelling with them from Switzerland. Befitting the occasion, Tibetan cuisine will be on offer from the Association of Tibetans in Germany. After all, Tibet-activists shouldn’t have to go hungry when they let their hair down. And, whoever still wants to really get into the whole Tibet thing can try traditional Tibetan butter tea.
